The project is part of the general framework of the interventions that have as their objective the connection in east-west direction of the Municipalities of Valdinievole as an alternative to the old paths of the SR436 Road and the SR435 through the construction of a new road path, located to the south of the same and outside the inhabited centers, with partial reuse of existing road sections, for the fluidification of the vehicular traffic, and secondary branches that branch off to comb for the connection to the inhabited centers.

The design alternatives identified are 4: 

  • Alternative 1: Path corresponding to the road layout expected in the preliminary project drafted by Tuscany Region in September 2002 which includes symmetrical enlargement on the SP22 and the realization of a service road south side (opposed to the town of Pieve a Nievole) between the new roundabout and the Borra stream.
  • Alternative 2: Layout with asymmetric enlargement along the north side of SP22 of the existing road site between the new roundabout R1 and the roundabout of Biscolla road.
  • Alternative 3: Layout with enlargement outside the existing seat in the section between the new roundabout R1 and il Tiro a Volo.
  • Alternative 4: Layout with enlargement outside the existing seat in the section between the new roundabout R1 and il Tiro a Volo with the insertion of a second roundabout R2 and a direct connection between Via Marconi and the new roundabout R1.
